Casey will cop a plea in the murder trial.  Even though she swore she would never confess to killing Caylee (God rest her soul), her lawyers know if it goes to trial, Casey will be headed to death row.  Baez will convince Casey that he'll be able to get her off on appeals.  Ain't gonna happen in this lifetime!
I know that if she plea bargains this case she can't appeal the guilty plea coming out of her mouth, but she will be able to appeal the amount of time the judge sentences her to.

Casey Anthony pleads guilty in check fraud case

Orlando, Florida (CNN/In Session) -- Casey Anthony, the young Florida mother awaiting trial in the death of her daughter, Caylee, pleaded guilty Monday to check fraud and was sentenced to time served.

Anthony admitted stealing a checkbook from a friend, Amy Huizenga, and writing four checks worth nearly $650. She wiped tears from her eyes as she spoke briefly in court.

"I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm sorry for what I did," she said. "I take complete and full responsibility for my actions, and I'd like to apologize to Amy. I wish I'd been a better friend.

Attorney Jose Baez asked the court to give Anthony credit for time served and place her on probation in the check case. The judge agreed that Anthony already has spent more time in jail than any sentence she could receive in the check case.

Anthony has made full restitution, Baez said. Before her arrest, she had no prior criminal record, he added.

The guilty plea means Anthony now has six felony convictions on her record. Her arrest in the check case came during a highly-publicized police investigation into the disappearance of her daughter, Caylee.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

The toddler's skeletal remains were discovered December 11, 2008, six months after she disappeared. The remains were bagged and partially buried in a swampy, vacant lot, and duct tape covered the child's mouth.

Police released documents last year showing they believed that Caylee was killed within days of the time she was last seen and that her body was in the trunk of her mother's car for "a period of time."

Authorities have said that the cause of Caylee's death is homicide by undetermined means.

Anthony's parents, George and Cindy Anthony, were present in court for the plea. George Anthony waved to his daughter as she was led from the courtroom.

Anthony Family May Lose Caylee’s Home
Bank Of America Files Foreclosure

POSTED: Monday, February 22, 2010
UPDATED: 11:57 pm EST February 22, 2010

ORLANDO, Fla.-- Local 6 was present when Bank of America moved to foreclose on the home where Caylee Anthony once lived, a move the family didn’t see coming.

George and Cindy Anthony said they did not know that the papers had been filed until Local 6’s Mike DeForest brought it to their attention.

According to the foreclosure filing, the Anthonys had not made a mortgage payment in nine months.

The Anthonys’ attorney said their granddaughter’s death contributed to them losing the house that Casey Anthony called home from the age of 3, where she raised Caylee, and where she was eventually arrested in connection with the toddler’s killing.

The Anthonys have owned the Hopespring Drive property since 1989, but four years ago they refinanced their home for $121,000. According to the filing, they still owe nearly all of that money.

Bank of America said that since June 2009, the Anthonys have failed to make their $785 monthly payments.

The Anthonys attorney attributed the couple’s latest financial problems to the notoriety of the case and the emotional toll caused by their granddaughter’s slaying.

Cindy Anthony told prosecutors she had to leave her job because of stress-related medical problems and has been on disability for more than a year.

George Anthony, on the other hand, said he -- like many others in this economy -- is having difficulty finding work. But the Anthonys attorney said George Anthony has an added difficulty because he is instantly recognized and rejected by most employers either because of who he is or because companies fear he may bring unwanted media attention.

Many had speculated that the Anthonys were profiting off book and movie deals, but their attorney said this foreclosure proves that never occurred.

The Anthonys said they plan to do all they can to save their home, if only to preserve the place where Caylee spent her life.

Casey Anthony Defense Wants State to Pay Legal Fees

ORLANDO, Fla. —  Lawyers for an Orlando woman accused in her young daughter's death says the state should pay the cost of defending her.

The team representing 23-year-old Casey Anthony says the financial assistance is the only way to ensure they'll have the resources to fight a conviction and possible death sentence in the first-degree murder case.

The defense wants the state to pay the cost of travel, serving supoenas, hiring experts, deposing witnesses and investigating the case.

Anthony has pleaded not guilty and says a baby sitter kidnapped her daughter Caylee. The toddler's remains were found in December 2008, months after she was reported missing.

Casey Anthony Trial Date Set

Motion Sets Trial Date For May 9, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. --
A date has been set Monday for the much-anticipated trial of Casey Anthony.

Anthony's trial is set to begin on May 9, 2011. Judge Stan Strickland also set a schedule for the case to proceed. He ordered that all depositions of witnesses to be completed by October 31, 2010.

The trial has been delayed several times in the past.

On Friday, Anthony's defense filed a motion for indigency claiming prosecutors decision to seek death will require them to ask the state to pick up certain investigative and travel costs.

Anthony, 23, is in the Orange County Jail charged with first-degree murder in the the death of her daughter, Caylee.

Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area off Suburban Drive near the Anthony family home in December 2008.

Anthony maintains a nanny by the name of Zenaida Gonzalez kidnapped Caylee.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- WFTV learned Friday that a woman said she had a relationship with Casey Anthony’s father, George Anthony and that woman was questioned by detectives.

It turns out that woman looks a lot like the description George gave detectives of Zenaida Gonzalez, also known as ”Zanny the nanny."

Casey claimed it was the nanny who took her daughter, Caylee Anthony.

VIDEO REPORT: Woman Claims Affair With George
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Skye Benhaida told WFTV that her sister provided investigators with information that she was having an affair with George Anthony that started soon after Casey was arrested. She said it lasted for about a year

"She was in love with George," said Benhaida.

Benhaida said George told her sister that Caylee's death was an accident. But she said her sister never asked about Caylee's death.

"She told him that, 'I would never ask you that.' In reply, he said it was an accident that snowballed out of control," Benhaida said.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer says if George really did say Caylee's death was an accident, it's bad news for the defense.

"This would apparently foreclose any defense that someone outside of the Anthony family is responsible for that child's death," said Sheaffer.

Benhaida claims George apparently used her sister as a model for what Zenaida, the alleged nanny, looked like; right down to a tattoo that her sister has.

Benhaida said, "Nice teeth and a tattoo down her left arm."

She said her sister gave George almost $5,000 over the course of their affair and was told by investigators that George had taken money from other women as well.

The sister also said that she had photos on a phone of she and George in intimate situations and shared them with detectives as well as the numerous text messages they exchanged using all three of George's cell phones.

The sister also told WFTV the woman has taken a lie detector test and was questioned by detectives for hours.

WFTV asked George Anthony’s lawyer about the issue and he said he's not received any information from investigators about it. Also, he would not answer any direct questions about whether George had an affair with the woman, but he did not deny that it happened.

Casey's defense team spokeswoman's response to WFTV’s questions about all of this was "no comment."

Meanwhile, two new motions were filed Friday in the case and neither of the documents are good news for Casey’s defense team.

Judge Stan Strickland denied Casey's attorneys request to stop the Orange County jail from videotaping their visits.

Her lawyer's said the security video intrudes on their attorney-client privilege, but the judge didn't agree.

Lawyers for Texas EquuSearch filed a motion responding to the defense.

Attorney Mark Nejame says the organization can't give more information about a volunteer because she wasn't assigned to search the area where Caylee's remains were found.

Also, Casey's parents have hired a new lawyer to help them save their home from foreclosure.

Attorney Mark Lippman is now representing George and Cindy Anthony, according to paperwork filed in Orange County.

WFTV first reported last month when the Anthony's home on Hopespring Drive went into foreclosure, after they failed to make a mortgage payment for nine months.

The family's home is the last known place Caylee was seen alive.

Administrators Concerned About Anthony Indigency
JAC Writes 5-Page Response To Anthony's Request

ORLANDO, Fla. -- State administrators said Friday that they have serious concerns about Casey Anthony's request to be declared indigent.

The designation would allow Anthony to use public funds to cover some of the costs of her defense.

An attorney for the Justice Administrative Commission said the source of their concern with her application revolved around how much money Anthony has already paid for her attorneys.

The attorney pointed out Anthony has already come up with more than $110,000 to pay Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon, and it's not known where that money came from.

The JAC indicated they want to participate in next week's hearing as Judge Stan Strickland considers the issue. His decision could clear the way for Anthony to begin receiving tax dollars.

In their five-page response, the JAC also indicated they wouldn't pay for all costs, including travel expenses for out-of-state attorneys.

Lawyer: ABC News Paid Casey Anthony $200,000

New evidence was released Thursday in the Casey Anthony murder case, including the amount of money she received from a television network, as well as conversations she had with other inmates.

Anthony's defense team told Judge Stan Strickland that she no longer has funds to pay for the trial.  Her attorney,J. Cheney Mason, testified ABC News paid Casey Anthony $200,000, but that those funds are now gone.

Strickland is deciding whether to approve the declaration of Anthony being indigent, which would make the state pay for her defense.

A transcript of conversations Anthony had with a fellow inmate was also released, stating that "an Orange County Corrections officer may have facilitated the communication once the friendship had begun."

Casey Anthony remains jailed on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee, who was last seen in June of 2008. Caylee was not reported missing until a month later. The little girl's remains were found in a wooded area near the family's home on December 11, 2008. Investigators say the toddler's body was found with duct tape over her mouth.

State will help pay Casey Anthony's defense, judge orders

By Emanuella Grinberg and Jean Casarez,

(CNN) -- The state of Florida must fund some of Casey Anthony's defense in her first-degree murder trial for the death of daughter Caylee, a judge ruled Friday.

"All costs submitted shall be in compliance with the Ninth Judicial Circuit's caps and rates and are subject to further review," Circuit Court Judge Stan Strickland said in a order issued Friday.

Anthony's defense team told the court Thursday that she was broke and could not bear expenses associated with her defense.

In Friday's order, Strickland granted Anthony's request to be declared indigent, which means the state will pay expenses related to her defense on a discretionary basis except for private attorney's fees.

Anthony's lead attorney, Jose Baez, and Chicago death penalty attorney Andrea Lyon said in a four-page motion that they are not asking the state to pay their legal fees. They asked for assistance with fees for the service of subpoenas, investigations, travel, experts to interpret forensic evidence, expert witness fees and the cost of depositions.

The defense attorneys argued that Anthony is entitled to financial assistance under the Constitution's Sixth Amendment, which protects her right to a fair trial.

Because prosecutors have indicated they are seeking the death penalty, Anthony also is entitled to "the unique standard of care required for a capital defense," the attorneys assert.

Caylee Anthony's body was found in a lot near her grandparents' home in December 2008. The grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, have been supportive of Casey Anthony but now are fighting foreclosure, according to a complaint filed by Bank of America.

Baez testified Thursday that the defense received and spent about $275,000 over the past year and a half. Of that, $5,000 came from an anonymous donor; $70,000 came from a former defense attorney, Todd Macaluso; and $200,000 came from ABC through a "deal" with Anthony. The terms of the deal were not released.

That money, Baez said, was spent on defense costs including travel, depositions and retention of experts.

"It's been quite an expensive task," he said.

Baez, who testified that he has spent about 2,500 hours on the case, has been paid an estimated $89,454, according to financial affidavits released by the court and written in what appears to be Casey Anthony's handwriting. Lyon has received $22,500 but testified Thursday that all of that money went back into costs associated with the case. "There's not a dime" left, she said.

Anthony wrote that both attorneys "were or are being paid by myself" and said her income is "zero" and her assets are "zero." She did not list her debts or liabilities.

Two more attorneys, Linda Kenney Baden and Cheney Mason, testified that they are working pro bono -- for free -- on the case.

Under Florida law, there is a presumption that a defendant is not indigent if he or she has assets of $2,500 or more, excluding the value of a home and one vehicle having a net value less than $5,000.

The "expectancy" of money is also taken into consideration. Defense lawyers testified Thursday that there were not any book or movie deals on the horizon for Anthony.

Letters Between Casey Anthony, Inmate Friend Released

Correspondence sent between Casey Anthony and another inmate at a Florida jail was released today by the state attorney's office.

The 258 pages of letters do not contain a confession, but Anthony frequently complained about her family in the letters she wrote to a female drug dealer she befriended at the Orange County Jail. Anthony also wrote of her profound dislike of her former boyfriend, Jesse Grund, indicating that she was relieved when he informed her that DNA tests proved he wasn't her daughter's father.

"I despise that loser and I pity him," she wrote.

Anthony, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee Anthony, who was 2 years old when she was reported missing in July 2008. The girl's remains were found five months later near the home Anthony shared with her grandparents.

Anthony remains behind bars at the Orange County Jail under a protective-custody status, prohibiting her from directly communicating with other inmates.

"While there is no way to prevent inmates in adjacent cells from having fleeting communications, the passing of notes is something that would not be permitted," jail spokesman Allen Moore told the Orlando Sentinel.

The inmate who received Anthony's notes, Robyn Adams, told investigators she did not want to "get anyone in trouble," but said a county corrections officer may have helped the women stay in touch, according to prosecution records cited by the newspaper.

Orange Circuit Judge Stan Strickland had earlier ordered the letters not be released to the public so Anthony's defense team had time to review the documents and decide whether to challenge their release.

Anthony's lead defense attorney, Jose Baez, said he was not concerned with the letters on Monday.

"We have nothing to hide with those letters," Baez told reporters.
